The Overland Park Civic Band presents seasonal, free, public concerts featuring a variety of classic and contemporary music.
A fixture in Johnson County since 1938, the Overland Park Civic Band is comprised of about sixty adult amateur and professional musicians from across the entire Kansas City metropolitan area. The band rehearses once a week for approximately 40 weeks, September through July, at the Tomahawk Ridge Community Center and presents seasonal concerts that are free, family-friendly and open to the public.
The Kansas Bandmasters Association has honored the band by having it present concerts at the KBA annual convention in past years. The band presented the opening concert for the Missouri Bandmasters Association in 1995, and has been invited by the City of Wichita to appear at its Riverfest Festival. The group has also performed on the Joplin, Missouri ProMusica Concert Series for five seasons.
Our Musicians
The adult members of the Overland Park Civic Band are a diverse group from a wide range of professions and walks of life. The combined years of music experience, both amateur and professional, are unbelievable. We play a wide range of music genres and levels with limited rehearsals, so we strive to make those rehearsals count and expect a quality of playing that may require outside practice.
We occasionally have openings in our instrument sections. If you are interested in speaking with our director about joining us, please use the Contact Form on this website. We reserve the right to request an audition. Thank you.
